Conc is a Linux and Gnome based console concentrator software that allows easy access to multiple consoles on a single system.
One of the best features of Conc is that it allows you to pool serial lines on multiple machines into one system. This means that you can manage an unlimited number of consoles with ease. The entire system is incredibly flexible and can be customized to suit your needs perfectly.
The three components that make up the Conc system are concserv, termserv, and conc. Conc-serv is the central daemon that keeps logs from all the consoles and coordinates the rest of the system. It spawns several termserv processes that control the serial lines to which the console lines are connected. The link between a termserv and concserv is encrypted, and termservs can run on separate machines from concserv, communicated over TCP/IP.
Conc is the user interface that connects to concserv over an encrypted TCP/IP link, allowing a system administrator to view the logs of a particular machine, connect to its console, add and remove consoles, and much more. There is a small, text-based interface called console that allows connection to a single console.
One of the most significant advantages of Conc is its ability to let multiple user interface programs run concurrently. This means that multiple connections to the same system are possible, allowing groups to work on one system. Communicating over TCP/IP allows management of machines from off-site or unifying management of co-located and local equipment.
We highly recommend that you try out Conc and send in any comments, feature requests, and bug reports. With its amazing features and flexibility, Conc is definitely worth checking out!
