ConvertAll is a software program that allows for the conversion of units.
ConvertAll comes with a host of features that make it stand out from other conversion software. The base units for conversion may be either typed (with auto-completion) or selected from a list. Units may be selected using either an abbreviation or a full name. Units may also be combined with the "*" and "/" operators, and raised to powers with the "^" operator.
Not only can ConvertAll handle linear scales, but it can also convert units with non-linear scales such as temperature. The unit list may also be filtered and searched for quick and easy access. Numbers may be entered on either the "From" or the "To" units side, for conversions in both directions, and basic mathematical expressions may be entered in place of numbers.
Options control the formatting of numerical results, and the unit data includes over 400 units. The format of the unit data file makes it easy to add additional units. Requirements for installation include Qt (Version 2.3 or Version 3.x), Python (Version 2.1 or higher), and PyQt (Version 2.4 or higher).
Installation is simple, just extract the source files from the convertall tar file, change to the ConvertAll directory in a terminal, and execute the following command as root: python install.py. For different installation options, use the command python install.py -h. To install ConvertAll with a different prefix (the default is /usr/local), use: python install.py -p /prefix/path.
In the latest release, ConvertAll has added the "liter per 100 km" unit for fuel consumption, changed the "mach" unit from 331.46 m/s to 340.29 m/s, and also fixed a bug that could hide messages about errors in a manually edited unit data file. Overall, ConvertAll is a reliable, efficient and user-friendly software that is perfect for anyone looking to convert units quickly and accurately.
