CopyPaste yType is a media hub that facilitates access to data in transit.
When compared to the original built-in clipboard, CopyPaste is superior in many ways. The original clipboard can only copy one item at a time, forgets the item copied at shutdown, and each copy is not remembered in a stack. Additionally, the clipboard(s) are not displayed, and drag and drop to the clipboard is impossible. The clipboard is also not editable.
CopyPaste offers several key features which include up to 100 multiple clipboards that are accessible by hotkey, menu, and palette. It has the ability to save all clipboards through restarts, a clipboard recorder that maintains a stack of all recent regular copies, and a clipboard editor that allows immediate editing of any clipboard. It also has a fast spell checker that highlights every mistake in a document simultaneously and clipboard archives, which allow appending text via a copy to one file.
Palettes enable users to view the contents of any clipboard, while the ability to create word lists out of a document or many documents gives users even more control over their data. The software also has many conversion and editing tools that can act on clipboard data in dozens of useful ways that save time. Examples of these tools include an email extractor that grabs email addresses from large amounts of text and a URL extractor that grabs URL's from large chunks of text.
Other features include a text cleaner that cleans or formats text in many ways, an encrypt/decrypt tool to protect text that you email to others, and find-in-clipboard that highlights all found items at once. The software also has a fuzzy search to find many items based on a close approximation, the ability to print any clipboard, and drag and drop function between palettes and to/from applications.
CopyPaste is also great at organizing and making available all the clipboard data for reuse. It has many more useful features, making it an indispensable tool for those who frequently work with data.
yType is another great addition to CopyPaste's features. It has word expansion/typing acceleration like MS Words auto correct feature. It allows users to expand a word, paragraph, or page of text from an abbreviation automatically as they type. It also has spelling checking in any application, inline calculation as you type, and type logging in any application.
Limitations to the software include a 30-day trial period.
The latest version of the software introduces two new preferences options. The vertical pixel offset of the yType suggestions palette can be set to the text position where it finally gets inserted. A new preferences option allows users to set the opacity of the yType suggestions palette. Finally, a bug that was present in version 2.7.4, which removed the ClipSet menu from the palette button, has been fixed.
