Monitor your CPU usage history with CPU History. It provides a graphical representation of current usage in the Dock icon and can be viewed in a separate window.
Unlike Activity Monitor, which performs several tasks, CPU History is specifically designed to graph CPU usage in the most straightforward way possible. The software is small in download size, uses minimal CPU resources, and provides a more customizable Dock graph than the competition.
Timing tests conducted on an iBook G4 showed that Activity Monitor and pmTool used as much as 18-20% of the CPU combined. In comparison, CPU History 1.0 used a mere 1.2-1.8% of the CPU to graph the same information. Similarly, on a MacBook Pro, Activity Monitor and pmTool consumed 2.9% of the CPU combined, while CPU History 1.1 used only 0.1% of the CPU.
CPU History also supports multicore machines and offers a floating window for the graph. Users can customize the update intervals ranging from intervals of 0.1s to 60s, choose graph colors, and adjust bar widths. Additionally, CPU History can graph even a single pixel difference in CPU usage. Overall, CPU History is an excellent application that provides an efficient and straightforward solution for graphing CPU usage on macOS.
