Csoun5 is a revamped version of Csound, which offers a comprehensive music synthesis system with enhanced features and performance improvements.
The installation process may vary depending on your distribution. If you have a file named './configure', follow the instructions in the INSTALL file to build the software. Otherwise, you can find a Makefile that matches your system in the csound directory. Rename the Makefile to 'Makefile' and edit it according to the comments provided.
If you want to construct a GNU Build System, you can do so by running the following commands: autoreconf -i, ./configure, and make. It's important to note that the instructions in the INSTALL file only apply to a system with a './configure' script.
By default, a system with a './configure' script will not build shared libraries. However, on Cygwin, you can build a Csound DDL that can be used without the Cygwin DLL by configuring with the command: './configure --enable-cygwin=no --enable-shared=yes.' This feature makes Csoun5 even more versatile and user-friendly.
