Cwdaemon is a compact daemon that outputs Morse code using a simple transistor switch and the computer's parallel or serial port.
Cwdaemon operates as a daemon and is installed via root access, with the file path "cwdaemon -p portnumber -s device." If no portnumber is specified, the default portnumber 6789 is used. Four devices are supported by the software, namely ttyS0, ttyS1, parport0, and parport1. If you need further support regarding the setup of your serial/parallel port, please refer to the README in the source package.
To test Cwdaemon, you could install the netcat package, and type "nc -u localhost 6789" on the command line. This way, any character entered will be forwarded to Cwdaemon. A shell script with multiple options is also available that allows an interrupted message to be resumed.
Overall, Cwdaemon is a perfect tool if you need to output Morse code from your PC without going through a few complicated setups. The software is easy to set up, and the read me file even provides additional assistance if you need it.
