D2X is a software game where players fly a 360 degree 3D anti-gravity small spaceship.
This release of D2X comes with a host of new features and improvements that are sure to enhance the overall gaming experience. The game now supports OpenGL, which ensures a smoother gameplay experience. Additionally, it includes libSDL (1.2.9), and even supports iTunes audio. Players can create a playlist called D2X and play their own music while playing the game. D2X will even randomly play the songs in the playlist.
The game's settings are now automatically saved inside /User/YOURUSERNAME/Library/Preferences/D2X to ensure that custom settings are preserved each time the game is played. The development team is actively working on updating the codebase to be in sync with CVS.
There have also been a few significant improvements incorporated into this release, such as improved Descent 1 texture mapping, improved OpenGL changes, and the use of the physfs framework. These changes are outlined in the CVS changelog.
There are some obstacles to overcome, such as iTunes integration and issues with preference, hogdir, and userdir locations. Despite these minor issues, D2X is definitely a game worth playing. It's engaging, challenging, and features plenty of adrenaline-fueled action!
