DayNight screenlet displays global night zones on Earth.
To make this possible, DayNight uses SUNRISET.C, which calculates Sun rise and set times, start and end of twilight, as well as the length of a day at any date and latitude possible. This algorithm was written as DAYLEN.C back in 1989-08-16.
DayNight is made possible thanks to Screenlets, which is a suite of independently-developed widgets as well as the widget engines that make them work. These widgets are primarily used on X11-based compositing window managers, such as the well-known Compiz architecture.
Screenlets 0.0.14 also introduced support for web widgets, which expanded what this suite could do. Widgets can be made in HTML, JavaScript and CSS, making them more interactive and useful for a wider range of users. DayNight is another testament to the versatility and usefulness of Screenlets.
