DBOW is a front-end tool that compiles databases and generates code automatically. It is a database compiler-compiler that simplifies the database development process.
One of the most significant benefits of DBOW is that it eliminates the time-consuming grunt work of writing class libraries and access functions for database tables. Moreover, if the SQL table format changes, you won't have to update several source files as the code produced by DBOW automatically adjusts.
As of now, DBOW supports C, C++, SQL, and PHP. However, the software is on track to support additional languages and database constructs as required. It’s a highly beneficial tool that provides an optimal language-native mechanism for manipulating your databases.
In terms of compatibility, DBOW is currently supported on both FreeBSD and Linux systems. Moreover, it doesn't require any additional libraries or elements except YACC/Bison.
Recent updates to the software include the inclusion of Perl functionality as part of the base release. A few minor bug fixes have also been made to enhance the performance of the software.
