This software, Decrypt and Extract Here Service Menu, offers a service menu feature that enables the decryption and extraction of encrypted tarballs. It allows users to easily access and extract the contents of encrypted files.
Bear in mind that the entry will only be visible for file extensions listed in pgp-tarball.desktop, which include *.tar.gz.asc, *.tar.gz.gpg, *.tar.gz.pgp, *.tgz.asc, *.tgz.gpg, and *.tgz.pgp. As of now, only gzip compressed tar archives are supported, but if you have a different compression type in mind (bzip2, zip, etc.), you can easily request its inclusion by emailing the author.
For added convenience, the software also modifies the kgpg.desktop file by adding "application/pgp-tarball" to the MimeType entry. This lets encrypted tar archives be opened by Kgpg, just like any other encrypted file.
One thing to note is that you'll need to meet the software's requirements for it to work properly. As for what's new in the latest release, a bug has been fixed where encrypted tarballs with spaces in their filenames would cause the service to abort. This issue is now fully resolved, and the software supports spaces in filenames.
