This software removes HTML tags to clean up the code and can also convert HTML documents to text while preserving headings, lists, and tables.
When used as an HTML-to-text converter, Detagger can process newsletters and output them in a more compact and email friendly format. The program preserves marked up headings, lists, and tables from the original HTML document and turns them into suitable text formats. Detagger maintains the original format and lays out tables as formatted text, or optionally converts them into comma-delimited data (CSV format), within the constraints of the user's chosen page width. Hyperlinks are replaced by the display text, and their URL is displayed either in the text or as an entry in a reference table added at the end of the document.
Users can customize output formatting by dictating the page width of the output or adding custom headers and footers to the output text with the software savely saving the selected options in policy files which may be reloaded in later sessions. Detagger is compatible with wildcards and supports drag and drop functionality, suiting whatever mode of operation the user prefers. After conversion, results can be viewed in a browser or text editor depending on the output format. The program also offers a console version for batch processing or automated conversions, and an API version for developers under separate licenses wishing to include Detagger's functionality in their own software.
