Discid is a compact software designed to compute disc identification codes for audio CDs.
The installation process for Discid offers three different methods. Users can choose to install the RPM-Distribution available for Linux systems, copy the TGZ distribution contents to their local computer and compile it, or simply copy the executable discid-file to a directory within the current path. On Linux, recommended directories for this might include /usr/bin or /usr/local/bin.
Once installed, the program is relatively simple to use. Users need only type "$ discid [device]" to generate the desired disc-ID. If no device is given, the program will automatically take /dev/cdrom as the default option.
Finally, this most recent release of Discid offers an updated Makefile that now allows DESTDIR. Overall, Discid is a powerful program that can aid users in identifying their audio compact discs with ease.
