Darc is a Python app for managing AIDE installations in varied networks. It's multi-threaded software and perfect for large heterogeneous networks.
Darc is multi-threaded, and it allows the user to run AIDE integrity checks across multiple unix systems from a single management station, with added features not available in traditional installations. It eliminates the need for maintaining read-only media databases on each system, rendering it unnecessary for day-to-day operations. A unified reporting system is integrated, removing the need for individual reports for each system. Integrated Syslog support allows admins to be notified when a system is suspected to have been compromised. Furthermore, all databases and configs are never written to filesystems on the monitored hosts.
This version of Darc includes new features, such as better error handling and reporting systems, HTML reports that make it easier to navigate within the report, and configurable timeout values for all relevant metrics, including TCP connection timeouts, SFTP transfer time, and AIDE run time. Additionally, it comes with built-in support for aide database maintenance tasks like init and update, which eliminates the manual file manipulation required in the previous version.
In summary, Distributed Aide Runtime Controller is an excellent software with lots of useful features that make it easier to manage AIDE installations in various Unix environments.
