DNSProxy is a daemon software that works as a DNS query proxy.
A major motivation behind this project was to replace Bind servers with djbdns in an ISP environment, where servers were handling both recursive and authoritative queries at the same IP address. This issue has been addressed by allowing the simultaneous running of dnscache and tinydns on the same machine with queries handled by dnsproxy.
There are other scenarios where dnsproxy can come in handy, such as in firewalls, where queries can be proxied to actual servers in your DMZ or for internal nameservers housed behind firewalls.
The latest release of dnsproxy comes with updated libevent 1.1, along with a few portability fixes. Overall, this software gets the job done efficiently and is definitely worth checking out.
