DocBookWiki allows the online display of DocBook documents.
DocBookWiki can also display a list of books, with support for multiple languages (translations). This means that readers can switch to their preferred language while reading a certain section of a book. Moreover, DocBookWiki allows users to edit the DocBook document online, from the web. Editors can select and edit one section at a time in different modes, such as text, xml, html, latex, texi, and more.
Users will find DocBookWiki useful as it displays documents in the original DocBook (XML) format, always. Additionally, viewers can download the document in various other formats, including PDF, RTF, Plain HTML, LaTeX, PS, and others, all automatically generated from the DocBook format. DocBookWiki also keeps track of all modifications made to the document using CVS, which allows admins to recover previous versions of a document by tag or date.
DocBookWiki requires GNU awk, Heirloom mailx, OpenSSL, PHP Web Application Framework, sed, Subversion, sudo, and The XSLT C library for GNOME as its core requirements. DocBook to LaTeX/ConTeXt Publishing, docbook-utils, gettext, swish-e, xmlto, doxygen, and MySQL are optional requirements that are recommendable to improve the user experience.
In summary, DocBookWiki is a useful software with many features, including the ability to display multiple documents, support for multiple languages, several editing modes, and automatic generation of various download formats. With DocBookWiki, users can keep the original XML format while editing, and administrators can assign different access rights and permissions to the editors. Users will appreciate the improved installation process, bug fixes, and small improvements made in the latest release.
