DocPerl is a software that offers a web-based interface to access Perl's Plain Old Documentation (POD) for easy and efficient documentation management.
One of the key features of DocPerl is its limited capability of searching for modules by name. It also displays POD as HTML for each listed file, such as YAML.pm, and displays the API for each listed file. The functions are hyperlinked to their definition line number in the code page so that a function can be viewed in context. Additionally, the functions are further subdivided into class methods, object methods, and general subroutines, as per convention/best guess.
Modules are listed by whether they are used or required or inherited. Other packages defined in the file are also listed, and a graphical view of the module inheritance is also displayed. The Code for each listed file is displayed with some syntax highlighting, such as YAML.pm. It also provides access to descriptions of the API files defined and displays code in limited syntax highlighting. Pages can be cached for increased performance, and the cache is auto-updated when the original file changes.
The latest release of DocPerl has resolved issues with IE6 and Konqueror, as well as some potential Javascript problems. Work was also done to improve the documentation, making it easier for users to get started with this software. Overall, DocPerl is a robust tool for developers who work with Perl, providing a comprehensive interface to manage their modules and handle their documentation needs.
