This software provides a KDE service menu that enables users to conveniently download subtitles from opensubtitle.org.
To use download_opensubtitle, simply right-click on a video file and go to actions, then select download subtitle. The menu will then show you a list of subtitles, and once you select one, it'll download and save with the same name as the video file (with a subtitle extension). This means your media player will automatically detect the subtitle.
One of the best things about download_opensubtitle is the search is done by extracting a hash from the video file. This ensures that you'll get the correct subtitle for sure, with no more async problems.
We have to thank opensubtitles.org for providing such a great service. Here's hoping that this service will be implemented directly into media players soon.
To install download_opensubtitle, all you have to do is copy download_subtitle.desktop to ~/.kde/share/apps/konqueror/servicemenus, and download_subtitle.py to a directory in your path (like ~/bin).
