EMI is a Python-based interface for ecasound, simplifying its usage as a mastering tool.
EMI's beautiful and light interface fits on a diskette, with a size of about 280 KB. Graphics are developed using Tkinter Canvas. Users can save and export their work in *.ecs format.
Key features include a custom skinable interface, dynamic box creation for LADSPA, PRESETS, and COP COPP, and multi-language support. The interface also includes a dynamic pop-up menu based on context. Users can view an updated version of the ecs file and save cs to presets, with documentations readily available.
System requirements for using EMI include the latest version of ecasound, configured with LADSPA (for late version), python 2.2 / 2.3, full duplex sound card (16bit or higher, with multiple sound card support), OSS or ALSA Driver, Rezound for audio editing, Timidity for playing MIDI files, MOD plugins for playing module files, and many audio formats such as mpg123, oggvorbis, libaudio, libsndfile, etc. (Note that most linux distros have it).
Overall, EMI is an excellent software tool for audio recording and mixing, offering a user-friendly interface and a wide range of features.
