Edastro displays real-time astrology charts on your desktop in a constantly changing format.
One of the best things about Edastro is that the themes update every two minutes so that you never miss any changes. You can click on the charts to see a larger version. The themes are created using ASTROLOG, an excellent freeware created by Walter D. Pullen. Each theme includes an astrolog executable, pre-compiled for 32-bit devices without graphics, which is included for convenience. Edastro also uses Imagemagick to resize images, make them transparent, and enhance clarity.
To set up a theme, all you need to do is find your location coordinates and then extract the theme to your preferred directory. Once you have changed to that directory, run the !SETUP install script from the command line and answer the questions that follow.
If you want to change the settings, check astrolog.dat config file for the calculation settings. Check the astrolog helpfile from its homepage to read about command line parameters and the seven chart types.
If you encounter any problems, try rerunning the !SETUP script. If the Astrolog executable is not working on your system, get the source from www.astrolog.org, build a new astrolog, and then copy it to the theme folder.
One known issue is that the theme sometimes flashes on an update, but overall, Edastro is a powerful and user-friendly software that astrology enthusiasts will surely enjoy.
