"Forcefully eject" software for CD-ROM and CD writer devices - Eject CDROM.
Eject Cdrom functions by first attempting a normal eject of the cdrom. If this process fails, the software will then forcibly eject the cdrom on your behalf. To ensure that your cdrom device is properly linked to the software, be sure to check that it is linked to /dev/cdrom. You can do this by using the command "ls -l /dev/cdrom". If the result is "/dev/cdrom -> /dev/hdd" (or something similar), then you're all set. If not, create a symbolic link using the commands "ln -sf /dev/hdd /dev/cdrom" or "ln -sf /dev/hdc /dev/cdrom".
The installation process for Eject Cdrom is incredibly easy. Simply save the eject.desktop file on your desktop or add it to your menu. Then, whenever you need to eject your cdrom, just click the software tool to do it for you (normally or forcibly).
In order to use Eject Cdrom, you will need to have cdrecord for forced ejection and/or eject for normal ejection of the cdrom. Additionally, there is a load/unload or insert/eject cdrom script that you can use for your convenience. This script automatically attempts a normal eject, but if it fails, it will then forcibly eject the cdrom.
