ElvinRRD is a network data transport tool that stores data in RRD databases for easy access and monitoring.
ElvinRRD can be used by any Elvin producer to transfer data to be stored in the RRD databases. For example, EDDIE-Tool can be used as an Elvin producer. Once data is stored in the RRD databases, any RRD-aware software can be used to process it. Examples of such software include Cricket and Cacti.
To use ElvinRRD, users must have the Elvin Python Library, Python, and RRDtool installed. Additionally, the py-rrdtool package is required.
Recent updates to the tool include new entries for storing CPU stats for FreeBSD, as well as various entries for storing Win32 system data. A bugfix was also implemented to ensure that SystemExit exceptions are ignored by the global exception catcher. Finally, various comments and docstrings were cleaned up and organized.
Overall, ElvinRRD is a powerful tool for transporting and storing data across a network, particularly for users already familiar with Elvin and RRDtool technologies.
