The EmiFreq software displays and regulates CPU frequency and temperature through the cpufreq sysfs kernel interface, serving as an efficient daemon.
One of the best features of the EmiFreq applet is its clean and intuitive GUI. In addition, it provides fast access to frequency changes with HIG assistance. The applet's interface takes inspiration from the Wireless applet, giving it an elegant and appealing look. Furthermore, the applet supports vertical panels and can adjust its look depending on the orientation of the panel.
To use the EmiFreq applet, make sure your kernel supports CPUFreq and sysfs. Apart from that, you're good to go. As for the latest release of the applet, it includes several exciting updates. For instance, the applet now has support for the on-demand governor. Additionally, the tooltip wording has been changed to more reasonable language.
Also, the applet now has a workaround solution for the latest Centrinos that tend to report four or five times the same frequency available. The latest release also places fixed frequencies in a submenu if the total entries are over five. Finally, the bug that incorrectly reported the frequency using scaling_setspeed instead of scaling_curfreq has been fixed.
Finally, if you're interested in the EmiFreq applet, you'll be happy to know that it now includes a Dutch translation. Thanks to Filip Van Raemdonck, the applet is now more accessible to Dutch-speaking users. All in all, EmiFreq is an applet you won't regret trying out.
