A web script that calculates the best way to combine bobbins of spun yarn to get a uniform result.
Version: 1.4Etherply is a web script that calculates the best way to combine bobbins of spun yarn to get a uniform result.
Operating System: Linux
What it does
Calculates the average weight of each bobbin's yarn (you give the total weight and length) and then tests all the combinations to find the one that matches best. That means when you ply the yarn, the total thickness of the final yarn should be consistent.
How to use it
There are 3 panels on this screen, left to right. The middle panel, and this right panel will change as you enter data.
First enter the number of bobbins and the number of plys (usually 2-4) in the left panel. Press ENTER. Notice that the middle panel has changed. Also notice that the number of permutations appears lower down in the left panel. This is how many different assortments the program will have to test.
Next enter all your measurements in the middle panel. Press ENTER after the last entry. When you are done, the button Find the best combination will become active on the left panel.
Getting the answer
A mild warning. If you asked a tough question (lots of permutations), your browser may pause every so often and ask if you really want to continue. It's not really an error. You do want to continue.
Now press the button Find the best combination.
Your computer will go into high gear! Current mode is Calculating. The progress is shown in "Found so far" and provisional results shown in the right panel.
When the program is complete, Current mode will be Complete and the result in the right panel.
