ExternalTemplateLoader is a Thunderbird add-on that allows loading external templates for composing new messages.
To use a template with ExternalTemplateLoader, simply create a HTML file containing the desired template. Then, open the compose window and navigate to the ExternalTemplateLoader options menu. From there, you can change your settings and choose your file, as well as set the automatic loading preference. It's important to note that you should always use absolute paths when using the template.
When it comes to loading a template, simply click "New message" if you've enabled automatic loading, or navigate to the ExternalTemplateLoader options menu and select "Load template" if you prefer to load your templates manually. Other features of the extension include a drop-down menu of blank new messages added to the main window, as well as the ability to clear a page and delete everything (including the template and any text you've written) from the compose window.
Unfortunately, at the moment, ExternalTemplateLoader only automatically loads templates when you compose a new message from the main window. It does not work with reply, forward, or the compose command. However, the developer may update the extension in future to include these features.
ExternalTemplateLoader is compatible with Thunderbird 1.5 or higher and currently supports English and Italian locales. The only requirement is that you're using the correct version of Thunderbird.
Additional features for ExternalTemplateLoader were added with the latest release - including the ability to load remote files as templates. Overall, ExternalTemplateLoader simplifies the process of loading external templates for your Thunderbird messages, making it a useful extension for Thunderbird users.
