Fachwerk software targets reinforced concrete structural analysis and design for engineers.
In cases where the system is statically indeterminate, Fachwerk calculates the forces of the members that are determinate, and allows users to assign forces to the remaining members. If more forces are assigned to members than needed for a statically determinate system, the program will indicate that the system is inconsistent, unless the equilibrium is fulfilled in any case.
Fachwerk differs from other programs in that it can calculate trusses and any possible solutions that meet the equilibrium conditions. However, this becomes problematic in cases where the system is statically indeterminate, and common linear-elastic programs calculate the forces based on member rigidity. For the calculation of strut-and-tie models, the rigidity of members has no relevance, and therefore should not be used. Fachwerk is designed to address this issue by allowing users to assign the yielding force of reinforcement bars to model ties.
If you're designing girders with a constant depth, Balken is another program from the same developer that may be of interest to you. This software can calculate simple discontinuous stress fields.
