An open-source software that provides a free and uncomplicated faked ident daemon.
Ident servers are designed to provide information about correlations between client and server ports on a machine, while also identifying the user responsible for using it. Some other services, such as IRC servers, implicitly use ident. Many IRC servers require ident responses from connecting clients and may even reject clients that do not have an ident server running.
By leveraging the capabilities of Fauxident, users can enjoy an additional layer of security and control over their ident system when a conventional solution is not possible. The software is written entirely in Python, making it simple to install, configure, and operate, regardless of the user's technical expertise.
