FFMpegMenu is a KDE service menu.
To install ffmpegMenu in Konqueror, you must be logged in as root or use the sudo command. Copy the .desktop file to /usr/share/apps/konqueror/servicemenus/. Similarly, for installing ffmpegMenu in Dolphin, you must also be logged in as root or use the sudo command. Copy the .desktop file to /usr/share/apps/d3lphin/servicemenus/. If the folder servicemenus/ does not exist, then you need to create it. The name may vary based on your distribution.
FFMpegMenu has certain requirements to function correctly. The dependencies include liba52, libdc1394, libfaac, libfaad, libfaadbin, libmp3lame (or liblame), libtheora, libvorbis, libx264, libxvid, libavutil, libavcodec, libacformat, and gcc 4.1.3. After installing these dependencies, configure your ffmpeg source using the command - ./configure --enable-gpl --enable-liba52 --enable-libdc1394 --enable-libfaac --enable-libfaad --enable-libfaadbin --enable-libmp3lame --enable-libtheora --enable-libvorbis --enable-libx264 --enable-libxvid. Use this command to create a functional ffmeg.
An important point to note is that while converting multiple files at once with FFMpegMenu, it may slow down your computer. Each file will open a terminal window that can be closed by pressing 'q'. The title of this window will display "Finished" or exit once the conversion is completed. The software works smoothly even with a 2.8ghz dual-core processor, 512Mb video, and 4Gb of ram.
This latest release of FFMpegMenu includes various updates such as added support for .vob type files and the ability to specify audio channels for all options. Overall, FFMpegMenu is an excellent solution for executing different ffmpeg commands with ease.
