This project provides a fundamental understanding of firewall systems through the Firewall and Proxy Server HOWTO.
Firewalls have become a popular tool for ensuring internet security and are now an integral part of almost every networking device. However, there are still many misconceptions about firewalls, which this HOWTO aims to dispel by defining what a firewall is and how to set one up.
To develop this HOWTO, I have used the kernel 2.2.14 and RedHat 6.1 distribution. The examples presented here are based on this distribution. However, if you encounter any differences in your distribution, please feel free to email me, and I will update this HOWTO accordingly.
Overall, the Firewall and Proxy Server HOWTO project provides exceptional guidance for setting up both filtering and proxy firewalls on a Linux-based system, making it a valuable resource for anyone seeking to improve their internet security.
