Flashdist installs OpenBSD in embedded systems.
By default, the distribution list, GENERIC kernel, and the default flashdist rc reside within 32MB of RAM and 32MB of flash. This can be scaled down with adjustments. This leaves ample space on larger storage devices, which can be utilized for third-party software, data sets, or long-term log rotation from the device itself.
What is most impressive about Flashdist is that it enables users to install OpenBSD quickly and with minimal fuss. It is a crucial tool for those who need to operate on a lightweight or low-resource system, though advanced users may also appreciate its power and flexibility.
In this release, several new features have been added. The most notable is a new flag in flashdist, which disables the SSH private key generation. You can use this flag in flashimgbld. SSH key generation has been shifted ahead of nsh execution (for current nsh.) In /etc/nshrc, sshd is active by default.
Additionally, outdated items have been removed from kernel configurations, making it easier to get started with Flashdist. Lastly, all disk images on the website now have SSH private keys removed (and will auto-generate on first boot.). All of this makes Flashdist a must-have tool for anyone depending on OpenBSD quickly and efficiently.
