An air battle simulator that is free and open source.
Not only is it a simulator, but FlyingGuns is also a 3D action computer game with single and multiplayer gaming capabilities. Once the player is in a WW1 fighter plane, they can fight against either human or AI opponents. Its slow planes make gameplay compact and easy to manage.
The software can handle a vast amount of opponents simultaneously. Fighting against 100 AI opponents is no issue for FlyingGuns, which is extraordinary. It also solves the 'where is the enemy' problem that is often experienced in flightsim today.
In terms of controls, FlyingGuns can be controlled with keyboard + joystick or mouse. The mouse cursor being in the center of the screen means that elevator and aileron are neutral. Pulling back the mouse corresponds to pulling back the flight stick, which normally means 'up'.
The controls of FlyingGuns are as follows:
• UP/DOWN arrow elevator
• LEFT/RIGHT arrow aileron
• A/D rudder
• W/S throttle
• Space fire
• C switch camera to next plane
• C switch camera to player's plane
• V toggle camera mode.
Overall, FlyingGuns is an exceptional software that is perfect for those interested in flight simulations or action-packed games. Its versatility in application and its impressive controls make it a software worth trying out.
