Freshmeat GUI is a script that uses a Glade interface to enable users to browse Freshmeat with a graphical user interface (GUI).
Compatible with standard daily freshmeat mailings and Firefox, Freshmeat GUI has one requirement: Python. But don't worry, installation is simple.
For example, you can create a file in your ~/bin called "freshmeat" that contains this bit of code:
#! /bin/sh tcs -f latin1 -t utf | /freshmeat.py
Then just pipe the output of your mailer into that. The tcs character conversion tool isn't included, so you'll need that too. If you don't want to create your own file, just stick the .py and .glade files in bin and you're good to go.
Overall, Freshmeat GUI provides a sleek interface and a hassle-free installation, making it a solid choice for anyone looking to streamline their browsing experience.
