GAINT is a Gaim plugin that allows file sharing like mIRC's fserve.
The plugin is particularly useful in situations where many ISPs block incoming P2P and other connections. However, most of them allow IM file transfers. Thus, you can leverage the situation using Gaim and the GAINT plugin to emulate FTP/Telnet partially.
To get started with GAINT, you need to download the Gaim source and place the gaint.c, other *.c and *.h files (if any) to the sub-directory. Then type `make gaint.so' and `make gaint.lo' in the plugins sub-directory. Next, copy the resulting two files (gaint.so and gaint.lo) to the Gaim plugins directory, typically located at `/usr/lib/gaim' or `/usr/local/lib/gaim'.
After installing the plugin, restart Gaim, go to the preferences dialog and enjoy GAINT's file-sharing capabilities. With GAINT on your side, file transfers will no longer be a challenge.
