Geomorph is a Linux software that creates and edits height fields.
Furthermore, Geomorph enables users to output height maps to 16-bit PNG files ranging from 128x128 to 4096x4096 pixels. This means a user can achieve a broader range of 65536 levels from pure black to pure white. It also features a pen and other tools to enable users to create customized height fields. Additionally, the software offers powerful tools for eroding, stratifying, and smoothing the height fields.
In terms of the user interface, Geomorph provides a multi-window environment that includes an OpenGL preview, undo and redo functions, and basic controls for Povray rendering. This is coupled with the software's support for English, French, and German localizations and tutorials in English and French languages.
Additionally, Geomorph is designed to accommodate multiple documents in multiple windows. This means users can work effectively by comparing different height fields, which saves time and enhances work efficiency. The software also includes a wide range of tools such as edit and transform tools appropriate to image editing, brightness/contrast controls, and tools relevant to height field editing, among others.
The software also features a Povray run button for testing the current image with a selected scene. With the undo/redo history, users can easily navigate through their editing process, and it even comes with a display scale control to ensure precision.
The latest Geomorph release comes with an impressive integrated interface and a new Fourier Explorer dialog that provides users with extensive options for manipulating Fourier transforms over height fields. This latest update has also been optimized for the x64 platform.
Overall, Geomorph is an incredible height field generator and editor that offers impressive features such as fine control over frequencies, high-end tools for generating height fields, an intuitive user interface with multi-window support, and much more.
