GeoXPlanet software creates marker and arc files compatible with XEarth/XPlanet from active tcp/ip connections.
With the latest version of GeoXPlanet (0.3.3), you no longer have to manually run XPlanet/XEarth. The program takes care of everything for you. The basic requirements for using GeoXPlanet are Python, XPlanet or XEarth, and optionally, psycopg/psycopg2, PostgreSQL, and MaxMind GeoLiteCity Database.
Installing GeoXPlanet is easy. All you have to do is download the tar.bz2 file and follow a few simple steps. You can find the installation instructions below:
1. tar xjpf GeoXPlanet-(version).tar.bz2
2. cd GeoXPlanet-(version)/
3. chmod 700 GeoXPlanet.py
4. ./GeoXPlanet.py
By default, GeoXPlanet uses online lookups. However, the latest version also comes with additional features, including reverse DNS lookup and radius options. The configuration has been streamlined and made more sane, and there is now experimental support for XFCE. Additionally, minor bugs were fixed.
Overall, if you're looking for an easy-to-use software program that allows you to plot active tcp/ip connections in XEarth/XPlanet in near-real-time, GeoXPlanet might be worth checking out.
