The Get-NonFree-NonUS software facilitates downloading of non-free and/or non-US packages from a Debian GNU/Linux server automatically.
The usage of the software is quite straightforward. To create a new image, all one needs to do is to run the script in an empty directory on a filesystem that supports symlinks. Additionally, if you're looking to upgrade an existing cdrom image, simply copy the contents to a writeable directory and rerun the script. This will allow the software to only download the new files and save a lot of download time.
It should be noted that the script will only run on a filesystem that supports symlinks. For users wanting to use PROXY servers, they will need to define the environment variables http_proxy and possibly ftp_proxy. If you want to use PROXY authentication, the environment variable WGET_OPTS can be used. For instance, WGET_OPTS="--proxy=on --proxy-user=foo --proxy-passwd=bar" http_proxy="" ftp_proxy="" ./get-nonfree-nonUS.
In this release, the actual package download procedure was changed a little to be able to reuse an already established connection to the server. This should increase speed and reduce the load on the servers, making the Get-NonFree-NonUS project more efficient than ever before.
