Gettext-stub is a compact imitation that takes the place of gettext.
As a developer, I appreciated the simplicity of gettext-stub and its ability to help me avoid bloating my new server. I needed to run Irssi, but in order to do so, I had to compile glib, which requires gettext. When I tried building glib with gettext-stub, it accepted it without issue. Both glib and Irssi run perfectly with gettext-stub installed.
The only potential issue users should be aware of are possible warnings on discarded qualifiers on return types, but because the software works as intended, it wasn't important for me to fix. Additionally, running make install may report missing .mo files since gettext-stub doesn't read or create these files. However, this doesn't impact the installation of glib.
Furthermore, I appreciated the collaboration between myself and other developers while working with gettext-stub. While he did the groundwork and testing, I was able to contribute by adding a Makefile and putting it into a repo. Overall, gettext-stub proved to be a helpful and straightforward software tool for any developer needing to build applications that depend on gettext.
