gfortune is a modernized version of the Berkeley fortune program that comes with BSD games package. It provides an updated user interface and improved features.
Version 1.0.1 is the latest release of this software, and it has come after a long gap of seven years since the release of version 1.0.0. The C language has changed a little in that time, and hence, we needed to update the software. Although there was little other purpose for a rerelease, we decided to include some user-contributed patches to improve the program's stability. In addition, we also included the first release of the fortune cookie database, which contains unsorted quotes. Please send us any bugfixes you may encounter.
Apart from the traditional features of fortune programs, gfortune also includes some new and exciting features. For example, it has an offensive fortune tagging system that will make sure you don't get caught off-guard. It also includes more versatile probability algorithms that can make the program more effective. Additionally, it has a recursive directory search and can handle hundreds of fortune files fast.
In conclusion, gfortune is an excellent software that has stood the test of time. Although it has been a while since the last update, the new release is definitely worth checking out. It is easy to use and has many exciting features that you shouldn't miss.
