gID3 is a user-friendly GUI ID3 tag editor designed to provide an easy-to-use interface for efficiently managing those tags.
The primary goal of gID3 is to be the most useful ID3 tag editor available in the market. To ensure it is meeting this unique goal, the developer relies heavily on feedback from users to make improvements continually. It is possible to provide feedback through using the software and sharing any recommendations or concerns.
To utilize gID3, start by typing ‘make’. The software has thus far been tested exclusively on Linux systems, but theoretically should function on any POSIX compliant system that has Gnome properly installed. Once the binary file is successfully compiled from making, the next step involved is the installation process. Copy the binary file and save it to a desired location, such as '/usr/local/bin'.
The latest release of gID3 includes several relevant updates. Notably, fixed limit/boundary checks in the trim() function, which caused the worst segmentation faults, introduced earlier, and variable "recursive" initialized, which fixes several other discrepancies. Other adjustments include modifying the code that changes "/" characters to spaces since the former is a forbidden character in Unix filesystems. Finally, the trim() function now employs isspace() instead of only checking for spaces, ensuring completeness. Additionally, the software now remembers the old dirname when the user selects '..' in dirlist, which makes for more ease-of-use overall.
