GLterm is a newer version of the Terminal application that acts as its replacement.
One significant aspect of GLterm is its use of X11 .bdf fonts, which it renders through the power of OpenGL. As a result, GLterm is incredibly fast, provided that the user possesses a functional 3D accelerator. Specifically, it should work correctly on B&W G3 and above for desktops and on White iBook and above for laptops. However, machines such as Rage II, II+, and Pro are not accelerated as of April 2002.
Requirements for using GLterm are clear-cut and include an iMac DV/400 (with an ATI Rage 128/8Mb), 2*G4@450 (with an nVidia GeForce 2 MX/64Mb), and 2*G4@1Ghz (with an nVidia GeForce 4 MX/64Mb). Overall, GLterm is a powerful tool worth considering for anyone looking to enhance their MacOS X Terminal experience.
