GnGeo is a Linux emulator that allows users to play NeoGeo games and potentially other UNIX games on their computer.
To install GnGeo, SDL-1.2.x and the libz, Opengl headers are required. Additionally, i386 asm optimization requires nasm 0.98. You will also need to have a neogeo BIOS to run the software.
To install GnGeo, you need to execute the following command: './configure && make'. After that, you can install the software by executing 'make install' as the root user. The configure script will automatically detect the presence of nasm and choose different CPU cores according to the situation.
You can also choose a CPU core by using the respective configure switch like --enable-star, --enable-gen68k, --enable-raze, and --enable-mamez80. To disable i386 assembler completely, use --disable-i386.
In the latest release of GnGeo, GP2X/ARM save state support for cyclone and drz80 has been added. Additionally, GP2X's exit sequence has changed to L&R&Select or L&R&Start. The software also comes with a minimal menu system that can be accessed via the "exit" sequence. Moreover, it also supports dos line endings in the rom.rc files and the gngeorc file.
GnGeo's automake stuff now allows multi-architecture builds. Furthermore, romrc.d officially replaces the big romrc file as it has a unique file for every game. Add biospath option in the GnGeo to specify where the BIOS is located. GNgeo also comes with Squidge's MMU Hack and allows you to fix the bug that prevents volume change when using a .cf file. It also fixes the miexchng slowdown issues.
Overall, GnGeo is a reliable and efficient software that can help you run your favorite NeoGeo games on your Linux or UNIX system.
