Gnome-audio is a module within GNOME that stores default sound files for the system.
There are specific criteria for sound inclusion: no licensing issues, appropriate length, appropriate sound, volume and spectral range, good taste, and common sense. All sounds that denote a specific event must be shorter than 1 second while background sounds should not exceed 5 seconds. The software normalizes sound between samples by removing extremes.
Attribution is also important, and the software recognizes sounds from Cleanus-Gnome and Silvertheme by Andreas Karlsson. Other sounds were taken from Borealis by Ivica Ico Bukvic (SlipStreamScapes).
This updated version comes with an added feature to update old sound effects, which were copied from generic.wav. The software also fixed a bug that made it unable to update listed files, and a patch from Vaclav Slavik fixes "-j2" builds.
