Gnome Jabber - a Jabber protocol-based instant message client for Gnome operating system.
Some of the key features provided by Gnome Jabber include basic messaging options, group chat, headline support, browse support, unicode support, message history, invisible support, sound notifications, emote icons and reply indicators, amongst others.
The latest release of Gnome Jabber comes with a range of new features, including giving users the option to add a new account or set up connection details when running for the first time.
Additionally, last minute fixes have been implemented, such as ensuring that the GjConnection was being passed and removing the "first_time_run" entry. The process for what happens on first time run has also been fixed and the software now uses the ".gnome2/Gnome Jabber" directory to determine if it is the first time being run, instead of GConf.
Moreover, the software has been improved so that it uses "Gnome Jabber" instead of "gnome-jabber," making it more consistent with the experience on Windows. To prevent unnecessary warnings in the log, a check has also been added before unref'ing.
Lastly, a fix for group chat not working at all has also been added to enhance the user experience. Overall, if you are a Gnome user in need of a reliable instant messaging client, Gnome Jabber could be just the tool you need.
