GNOME Sudoku is a software application that enables users to play and generate Sudoku games directly from their GNOME Desktop.
One of the features that stood out to me was the infinite undo capability, which allowed me to easily backtrack if I made a mistake while playing. Additionally, GNOME Sudoku supports generating symmetric puzzles with unique solutions, using basic features to help gameplay.
To run GNOME Sudoku on your system, you will need to have Python 2.4, Python Imaging Library, GNOME/GConf and Python bindings installed.
The latest release, version 0.7.1, addresses some pesky bugs, including one that caused finished games not to result in a "you win" screen, and another that made the game hang on quit in certain instances. I also noticed that GNOME Sudoku 0.7 has switched to a Makefile based build system and yelp-based help system, which makes setup and navigation even easier.
Overall, I found GNOME Sudoku to be an enjoyable and well-designed puzzle game. With its user-friendly interface and helpful features, I would definitely recommend it to any Sudoku fan looking for a simplified gaming experience.
