Gnu-pop3dS is a modified version of gnu-pop3d that enables dynamic forking of incoming clients. It improves the performance and scalability of the original software.
In my experience with Gnu-pop3d, I observed a few shortcomings. To improve its functionality, I added some options to it. Specifically, I added an option -D that converts mailpath "username" to "u/s/username" or "a" to "a/a/a". This feature aims to cater to server users, not users for the server.
Another option I included controls the number of users connected and forks next processes when necessary (man ipcs).
SSL implementation is a common inquiry that I receive, and I recommend using Stunnel to set it up. It enables POP3S protocol implementation, which works seamlessly with all Microsoft gadgets. Overall, Gnu-pop3dS is a useful software that improves on the original version with added features for maximum performance.
