GQoob is a customizable media player that offers some configuration options.
Despite these difficulties, GQoob v.0.3.0 currently has a range of features which would be helpful for anyone looking for a media player. The video issues associated with the release are, for the most part, due to pre-existing bugs in the xine-libs system.
GQoob's design is heavily influenced by GQmpeg, although there have been some necessary modifications in order to utilize the GTK 2 interface more effectively. Additionally, because of its use of the XINE library, GQoob is equipped to handle video playback. This video overlay is made possible by the gtk xine interface, borrowed directly from the Totem media player.
Some of the features that particularly stood out during testing included playlists, fullscreen capabilities, and the ability to tweak playback speed. GQoob also offers presets, as well as the ability to read and write both MP3 tags and OGG comments. Keyboard support is in place for skin widgets, as well as themes which can be edited using the built-in editor. There is also a flyby window that appears upon media change.
GQoob requires GTK+ 2.0 as well as XINE libraries 0.9.13 in order to function. The most recent release (v.0.3.0) includes several important changes, including a switch to XINE for media support, a wider range of video playback capabilities, and more. Additionally, the nullby theme is now the software's default skin.
