gtermix is a GTK+ based telnet client designed for easy connection with BBS servers.
The custom terminal widget that gtermix uses to render BBSes is itself quite impressive. It has been designed to closely emulate a VGA textmode console, which is the standard for many DOS BBS programs. This means that gtermix has support for VGA palette and font control, as well as IBM cp437 8-bit ASCII. All of these features work together to ensure that you get the best possible experience when using gtermix to connect to BBSes.
Some of the standout features of gtermix include its gtk+ user interface, which is both intuitive and easy to use. There is also a dialing directory that makes it easy to manage multiple BBS connections. Additionally, gtermix has an ANSI.SYS compatible terminal emulator that supports TextFX, along with subsets of vt100 and Avatar. This means that you can count on gtermix to render BBSes properly, regardless of what type of system you're connecting to.
If you've used gtermix in the past, you'll be happy to know that there have been some improvements in the latest release. Keyhandling has been improved, rendering problems have been corrected, and a couple of small features have been added. All of these changes work together to make gtermix even more powerful and reliable than before.
