GTimer allows users to track time in GNOME through its time tracking feature. It is a useful tool that helps monitor time spent on different activities.
One of the standout features of GTimer is its ability to track time for one or more tasks simultaneously, allowing users to record time worked during multitasking, thus minimizing lost time. Furthermore, GTimer can group tasks by projects if the user wishes to do so.
GTimer allows text annotations to tasks, allowing users to add extra information to details regarding the tasks they engage in. This feature provides a way to stay on top of tasks at all times. GTimer further checks to see if you are idle. If there is no mouse or keyboard activity in 15 minutes, it will ask if the user wants to continue timing or revert to when you went idle.
GTimer generates reports showing how users' time was spent each day, week, or month in either plain text or HTML format. The reports can be easily generated to suit the user's needs. On top of these features, GTimer was built using GTK+ and is compatible with Gnome (but it's not required).
The most recent version of GTimer has several vital features such as the -resume command line option, which will start time all tasks that were being timed when the application exited last. Projects are now associated with a project, with the project now as the first column in the main window. The new version has added an option to round minutes to the nearest minute, five minutes e.t.c., in reports window. Additionally, GTimer has added a small CSS stylesheet to report HTML output. New reports such as "Last Two Weeks" and "This Week & Last Week" are now a feature. The new version can also reread gtkrc when -dir option is supplied. The http function has been modified to use "Host:" required by web sites that used virtual hosts like www.cknudsen.com. Moreover, error handling has been improved a little bit.
In summary, GTimer is a powerful tool that helps users manage their time effectively. Its features are well suited for businesses, sole traders and individuals looking to manage their time while achieving productivity.
