gtranscode is a graphical user interface for transcode software, utilizing GTK+ technology.
Transcode can handle virtually any format of video and/or audio, converting it to a new format. However, with over 100 command line options, it can be hard to know where to start. That's where gtranscode comes in.
This software aims to simplify the process, with an organized layout to reduce confusion and support for all of the most commonly used options. It even uses tcprobe -i (from the transcode package) to summarize information about the input file before processing, giving users an even better understanding of what's going on.
Additionally, gtranscode provides an equivalent transcode command line for troubleshooting and familiarizing users with command line options. Any unsupported extra options can be manually entered in the entry box before hitting "GO," and the software performs automatic "maintain aspect ratio" and "projected filesize" calculations based on bitrates.
Updates to gtranscode include the addition of a cancel button to the progress window and the capability to tcprobe an entire directory and add the number of frames up. This means that a directory can be transcoded without the progress bar saying NaN.-- ultimately making gtranscode, an amazing video and audio processing tool.
