gTVTimer is a simple video recorder and MEncoder frontend that is user-friendly.
The software also comes with a range of filters such as crop, resize, deinterlace, and denoise. Additionally, it includes English and German translations. Users are welcome to send bug reports and suggestions to the developer as there is still a lot to add/improve.
The requirements for gTVTimer are; Gambas 1.0.x (tested with versions 1.0.12 to 1.0.14), QT >=3.2, aumix, MPlayer/MEncoder. To install the software, extract the archive and open the resulting gTVTimer folder in Gambas. Users can then start the program or create an executable which can be launched from the command line.
Before recording can start, users must select a folder in which all their videos will be saved, and also create a list of TV channels through "Preferences/TV". To ensure that each recording uses different settings, the software offers the creation of one or more profiles based on users' TV, video, filter, audio, paths, and other settings.
The latest release of gTVTimer offers fixed resume of aborted recordings, saving settings before planned shutdown, and various bug fixes. It now has added features such as MPEG file information dialogs, MPEG2 remultiplexing dialogs, creating a DVD with menu structure from MPEG2 files, and main window position being saved and restored on startup.
In conclusion, gTVTimer is an outstanding software for anyone who wants to schedule and record TV programs effectively. The software has various features, is easy to use, and offers support for different video codecs, audio codecs, and filters.
