GwenRename is a batch renaming software solution that allows users to rename a series of files quickly and easily.
GwenRename can also be found on KDE Apps. There have been recent updates to this software. The 1.0.3 Stable Release fixes issues, such as "numeric sorting not correctly done" bug, when the filename contains regular expression special characters. The counter can now also be deactivated in the latest release. The user interface has been improved, code is cleaned up and the latest build system is being used.
The 1.1 Beta 4 Development Release is also available. In this latest release, GwenRename can be executed without parameters. In this scenario, users can select the folder containing the files to be renamed through the "Folder Selection" dialog. A mode selection dialog has been added when a single folder is passed to GwenRename. Now users can add or remove files or folders from the list of items to be renamed from the within the program by using the ListView context menu. The program has started to include help to the program dialogs, and a user manual is being written. Layout changes and other minor changes have been made to further improve GwenRename.
In summary, GwenRename is a simple, lightweight tool for easy batch renaming, while KRename offers more features. The recent updates to GwenRename make it a more user-friendly and functional tool, allowing users to effectively rename multiple files at once.
